The World Karate Federation has announced that the 2021 Karate 1 Premier League of Rabat has been postponed to October 29-31 due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The Premier League of Lisbon, scheduled from April 30 to May 2, will replace the tournament in Rabat as the Olympic qualifying event in the road to Tokyo 2021. In the case that the Premier League of Lisbon will not be held because of the Covid pandemic, the Olympic qualification ranking will only take into account the European championships in Porec, Croatia (May 19-23). If those cannot be held, the 2019 Europeans would be the reference competition to end the Olympic ranking.

The WKF just announced that the Karate 1 Premier League of Lisbon, initially scheduled on February 19th-21st, is postponed due to the situation generated by the Covid-19 pandemic. It does not count with the minimum guarantees for its celebration on the dates foreseen. The new dates would be from April 30th to May 2nd 2021. The season should therefore start in mid-March. But it will not be in Baku, because of the increasing restrictions imposed by the Azerbaijanese government. Istanbul is expected to host the 1st Karate 1 - Premier League event of the year from March 12-14.
