Emilie Thouy, Sara Cardin, Anzhelika Terliuga or Tzu-Yun Wen? Let’s take the bet! Who might know who is going to win is clever, regarding the relentless opposition they all have. It will first be a question of psychologically winning on Friday.

Defeated in the first round last year, the Ukrainian Anzhelika Terliuga, the current WKF ranking n°1, has landed in Paris with the record of two victories in her last two competitions (Okinawa last November and Salzburg October). As she is in a very good shape, she appears to be the favorite of this Paris Open. But… To counter her, an army of World and European medalists have got ready. Leader of this golden legion, the Italian Sara Cardin, the 2014 World champion and 2016 European one, and the French Emilie Thouy, the 2016 World champion and 2015 European one, respectively fourth and six in the ranking, are ready to beat her to the punch. To find some outsiders, we should of course look toward the Japanese getting ready for “their” Games in 2020. Ishiai Fumika and Sara Yamada (second at Asian championish for the first one and third at the last world championship fort the second one), eager to score points and to be remembered as soon as possible. In this very undecided category, Tzu-Yun Wen from Taiwan, the current Asian champion, the Scottish Amy Connell (2nd last year) and the Brazilian Valeria Kumizaki, ranked World n° 3, can thwart the forecasts. As for the Iranian Travat Khaksar, the 2017 winner, she didn’t show up that much since her victory in Paris. But, who knows, maybe she was saving herself for 2018?
