They are 8 per category, there will only be one left at the end of the 2 days of competition of the 11th World Games.

Organized this year in Birmingham (USA), they welcome 34 sports, 58 disciplines and 3,600 athletes, including 96 karateka who will be competing tomorrow and Saturday (July 8 and 9).

2 Olympic champions and 8 World champions are in the running. Hajime !

The World Games, What is it ?

Organized every 4 years, the World Games are prosaically nicknamed the Olympic Games of non-Olympic sports. They bring together the best of each sport, qualified thanks to their results/ranking.

3,600 athletes from 34 sports (58 disciplines in all) are meeting in Birmingham (Alabama, USA) from July 7 to 17.

The tournament

The format adopted is that of the round robin (2 pools of 4) as in Tokyo for the Olympic Games. The two 1st of each group are qualified for the ½ finals.

Friday 8

10 am – 11:40 am : kata F + M elimination rounds

11:45 a.m. - 1:25 p.m.: round robin -50 kg, -55 kg

1:30 p.m. - 3:10 p.m.: round robin -60 kg, -67 kg

3:15 p.m. - 4:20 p.m.: kata and combat ½ finals

5:30 pm - 6:35 pm : bronze medal matches

6h40 pm - 8 pm : Kata and combat finals

Saturday 9

10:00 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.: round robin -61 kg, -68 kg

11:45 am - 1:25 p.m.: round robin -75 kg, -84 kg

1:30 pm - 3:10 p.m.: round robin +68 kg, +84 kg

3:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.: ½ finals

5 pm - 6 pm : Bronze medal matches

6 pm - 7h20 pm : Finals
