The 2021 Istanbul Premier League starts tomorrow Friday 12 (until Sunday). 1st Karate 1 for a year, it’s much more than a simple revival, it’s the 1st stage of the home stretch leading to the Olympics, even if it’s not a qualifying event. Less than 5 months before the Games, test the distance, taste the sensations, smell the competition, observe the opposition. There is a challenge for champions ! They are all announced in Istanbul, or almost, Japan, England and France have declined the invitation. Stakes and draws.

We haven’t seen them in action for a year or so. They were happy to do so last week-end near Paris for some friendly test-matches. Friendly but still competitive as they all like to win. The World champions Ivan Kvesic, Dorota Banaszczyk and Steven Da Costa, but also Timothy Petersen, Abdesselem, Garin, Avazeri, Bouderbane, Jacquet, Jessie Da Costa, Filali and Sivert offer us great Ura Mawashi, sweeps, Mawashi, Kizami…

The World Karate Federation has announced that the 2021 Karate 1 Premier League of Rabat has been postponed to October 29-31 due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The Premier League of Lisbon, scheduled from April 30 to May 2, will replace the tournament in Rabat as the Olympic qualifying event in the road to Tokyo 2021. In the case that the Premier League of Lisbon will not be held because of the Covid pandemic, the Olympic qualification ranking will only take into account the European championships in Porec, Croatia (May 19-23). If those cannot be held, the 2019 Europeans would be the reference competition to end the Olympic ranking.
